Inclement Weather – Camp Fire Central Puget Sound

Rain or Shine!

The health and safety of our campers, staff and volunteers is our highest priority. Keeping that in mind, we will hold camp in the rain unless there is thunder/lightning. We also will hold camp in the smoke until it reaches unhealthy levels. Please review the following information for further details.

You will receive an early morning email from the camp director if camp is cancelled. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer make-up days.

Thunder and Lightning

In the case of thunder and lightning, we will ask you to come pick up your camper. You will receive a text from Ultracamp if this occurs. Please check your phone regularly in the case of potential weather.

Smoke

Throughout the week we will be keeping a close eye on the air quality, and will have back-up plans for each day based on conditions.

If your camper has any respiratory or heart conditions, please consult with your family health care provider.

We will use AirNow to track air quality. If the AQI (Air Quality Index) measures higher than 100, we will be making the following adjustments to our program to protect the health of our campers and staff.

Orange Level (AQI 101-150): Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups

Activity level will be modified to include less high-energy activities like running, hiking, etc. Campers are encouraged to bring extra water. Kids with health issues or sensitivity to air pollution may consider staying home.

 Red Level (AQI 151-200): Unhealthy

Activity level will be modified – no high-energy activities. Campers are encouraged to bring extra water. Kids with health issues or sensitivity to air pollution should stay home.

Purple Level (AQI 201-300): Very Unhealthy or higher

All Day Camp programs will be cancelled.
