Spring Escape Workshops – Camp Fire Central Puget Sound

Check out the workshops that will be offered during the 2025 Spring Escape Weekend!

  • Air Dry Clay Trinket Dish: Create a jewelry or trinket dish using air dry clay, paint, and things found in nature.
  • Archery: Learn or hone your skills with a recurve bow one of camp’s archery ranges.
  • Barrel Stave Candle Holder: Learn basic woodworking skills and make a candle holder from a barrel stave.
  • Box Chain Bracelet: Learn basic chainmaille jewelry techniques and make a bracelet with a two-color box weave.
  • Camp Hike: Explore camp on a hike led by a staff member. Hike will be tailored to participant interests and abilities.
  • Collage Quilting: Create a bird or other design using small bits of scrap fabric with iron-on adhesive – no sewing required!
  • Danish Cooking: Learn the art of Danish cooking and try some yummy new recipes: æbleskiver (round pancakes), brunede kartofler (caramelized potatoes), and red fruit pudding.
  • Decorated Eggs: Learn to make a decorated egg with a diorama inside and decorated outside.
  • Diamond Dots: Diamond Dots are a relaxing craft project that makes stunning designs with tiny diamond-like facets; in this workshop you’ll get to make your own Diamond Dot piece with cupcake and plant designs.
  • Dog Treat: Make your own yummy puppy treats from scratch.
  • Dungeons & Dragons Level 1: Learn the basics of the popular role-playing game with an experienced Dungeon Master – no experience necessary. This is a double-workshop (2 sessions).
  • Free Time: Spend your time on your own relaxing or enjoying camp.
  • Geocaching Puzzles: Explore the camp property while learning the basics of geocaching; solve puzzles to uncover cache locations and discover different types and sizes of geocaching containers along the way.
  • Glass Etching: Use stencils or free drawing to design and etch a vase, votive, or other glass piece.
  • Holiday Greeting Card Bauble: Turn holiday cards into decorations or memories of a special day.
  • Introduction to Quilting: Learn the basics of quilting: cutting, piecing, sandwiching, and quilting by creating the Walking Trail square. The finished product is a potholder or it could be used to make a larger quilt.
  • Island Tour: This off-site trip will visit the famous Dambo Troll and Granny’s Attic (one of the greatest thrift stores around). Time permitting, we’ll also stop for tea or coffee at the birthplace of Seattle’s Best Coffee, now known as Minglement.
  • Knifty Knitter Hat: Learn to use a Knifty Knitter and make a cozy winter hat.
  • Moonlight & Sunsets Painting: A chance to paint on both a black and white canvas and creatively paint a moonlit scene and sunset scene. Great for beginner painters!
  • Mosaics: Learn the basics of mosaics and create your own mosaic trivet.
  • Puzzle Wall Art: Create unique wall art out of puzzle pieces.
  • Rope Vase: Let’s get nautical! Decorate a vase with rope, paint, and other embellishments to give your space a little beachy feel.
  • Stromboli: Learn how to prepare a classic Stromboli recipe to satisfy any palate. Participants will prepare the dough and make their own Stromboli. Yum!
  • Ukrainian Eggs: Learn the techniques for Ukrainian egg decorating – use hot wax and non-traditional colors to create a beautiful design.
  • UV Resin Charms: Learn how to use UV resin to make a charm with beads, dried flowers, and small shells.
  • Watercolor Painting: Learn the basics of watercolor painting with two projects: a great blue heron and rocks in a stream. We’ll use tracing paper and an outline, so no drawing skills or artistic experience is necessary to create a beautiful piece.
