Proud 2 Be Me camp focuses on creating a week-long community experience for our LGBTQIA2S+ campers. This session of camp includes a forum to discuss identity, while still enjoying all the fun classic camp activities that Sealth has to offer.
What to Expect
This week of camp gives a designated space for our queer-identifying or questioning campers to build community at Sealth. The week will offer gender-inclusive cabins, staff facilitated and supervised discussions around identity and queer history, along with the same classic camp favorites of overnights, archery, arts & crafts, and more! Campers can expect value sessions centered around being queer in the outdoors, and a safe space to try on new names, identities, or pronouns.
LGBTQIA2S+ & Relationships at Camp
We welcome children and youth who identify as LGBTQIA2S+ and from LGBTQIA2S+ families. They are a part of our camp community, which we strive to make a safe environment for everyone. While romantic relationships are not allowed or encouraged as part of the camp experience, we do encourage everyone to be able to talk openly about themselves, their personal identity, and their family. We do not talk about the mechanics of sex or anatomy; we talk about sexuality as part of someone’s identity. Our staff are trained in how to have or facilitate age-appropriate conversations in a way that makes everyone feel comfortable and included, without making judgments or creating an uncomfortable environment.
