Fill your week with hiking and camping, learning essential outdoor skills, and rafting among the peaks and whitewater of the North Cascades. Begin and end the week with some of your favorite classic camp traditions and activities too! 

All Adventure Camps operate as gender-inclusive cabin groups. 

What to Expect 

This trip is ideal for those who love the outdoors and want to challenge themselves. Previous experience with hiking and rafting is not required. Participants should be able to participate in the activities offered. The trip includes: 

  • Three nights of camping in the North Cascades 
  • One day of rafting on the Skagit River 
  • Short day hikes near the campsite 

Eligibility 

Youth must meet the age/grade requirement for this program. Physical fitness requirements for this program are minimal: youth should be able to raft and participate in hikes of moderate difficulty. All activities are beginner level and will include basic instruction. 

What to Bring 

In addition to the regular Camp Sealth packing list, youth should bring: 

  • Warm sleeping bag 
  • Warm outdoor clothes (fleece and wool work best) 
  • *Backpacking pack 
  • *Sleeping pad 
  • Sturdy, lightweight hiking boots + extra socks 
  • Warm hat 
  • Thermal underwear (optional) 
  • Headlamp (optional) 

*These items can be borrowed from the Adventure gear closet if you don’t have your own 

Waivers 

Signed waivers are required to participate in rafting and must be turned in by the start of the session. Waivers will be sent to you within a few weeks of the start of the session. 

Safety 

Adventure trip leaders are experienced in leading trips and outdoor activities, are at least 21 years of age, and have WFA or WFR certification. Rafting is led by a professional, certified guide whose safety record has been verified by Camp Sealth. Lifejackets and wetsuits are provided by the rafting company and are required to be worn in boats. Some activities may take place more than 30 minutes from EMS access. Trip leaders carry a satellite phone with them throughout the trip.
