A great backpack trip for beginners! Visit the stunning lakes of the north Cascades for this 3-day backpacking trip. Familiarize yourself with outdoor living skills and bask in the beauty of several different back-country lakes. Spend two nights away, then come back to camp in time to enjoy some classic camp activities.
All Adventure Camps operate as gender-inclusive cabin groups.
What to Expect
This trip is ideal for beginning backpackers, with easy terrain and short hikes each day. Depart from Camp Sealth on Day 2 for your adventure where you will explore the backcountry. Return to Sealth after two nights away for two days of classic camp activities like challenge course, archery, arts and crafts, and more!
Eligibility
Youth must meet the age/grade requirement for this program. This is a beginner-level backpack trip, so the physical fitness requirements are minimal. Youth should be able to hike up to 3-4 miles each day at an easy pace and carry at least 20 pounds in a backpack.
What to Bring
For backpacking trips, compact and lightweight gear is recommended, as campers will also be carrying food and group gear. In addition to the regular Camp Sealth packing list, participants should also bring:
- Warm sleeping bag
- Warm outdoor clothes (fleece and wool work best)
- *Backpacking pack
- *Sleeping pad
- *2 sturdy water bottles
- Sturdy, lightweight hiking boots + extra socks
- Warm hat
- Thermal underwear (optional)
- Headlamp (optional)
*These items can be borrowed from camp if you don’t have your own through the Adventure gear closet
Safety
Adventure trip leaders are experienced in leading trips and outdoor activities, are at least 21 years of age, and have WFA or WFR certification. Some activities will take place more than 30 minutes away from EMS access. Trip leaders will carry a satellite phone on them throughout the trip.
