Camp Sealth’s horse program emphasizes fun, safety and skill development! You’ll learn a wide range of new horsemanship skills, adding new challenges as you feel ready. Sessions are offered for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. Buddies who register together do not need to be at the same riding level. The camp staff will further evaluate riding ability at the beginning of the session, and place campers in a riding group appropriate to skill level. Campers will progress to more advanced riding skills when they are ready.

Lil’ Buckaroos

Lil’ Buckaroos is an intro horse program for campers who aren’t ready for a whole week of horse camp. Campers will get a chance to groom and feed horses, interact with horses through ground lessons, and then wrap up the week with a trail ride.

Beginner Riding

Beginner sessions are for those who have never ridden before, or who have only ridden a few times. Novice horseback riders will learn to start, stop, steer, and to control their horses at a walk. They will also practice new skills through horseback games and drills in the arena, then head out on a trail ride. 

Intermediate Riding

For riders who have completed at least two weeks of horse camp or taken riding lessons. Campers must be able to independently control a horse at a walk. They’ll learn new skills in the arena and expand their knowledge of horses through ground lessons.

For experienced riders who can confidently control a horse at a walk and trot. When ready, advanced riders may try bareback riding and controlling at a lope.
